Why people keep focus on marriage it self anyway?

For “pro” : Why you insisting marriage anyway? If you love each other it is enough!

For “againts” : Why you insisting they can not marry anyway? Without marriage they still have relationship that can not be broken by you.

That’s between the two people getting married and God, I have no real voice in the matter. I’ll not judge because some holier than thou butthead might get it into their head to trash talk me for who I married or her for marrying me.

Love, schmove – civically speaking, marriage is an economic arrangement where 2 people share a household. Marriage benefits are society’s way of encouraging that arrangement. That’s all the gov’t should be concerned with, right? Not their sex life, or their gender. If society is worried about the sex of the 2 people, then it must be interested in encouraging the reproductive success of people in certain economic arrangements. That’s not all that unreasonable, actually. I think that’s what the anti-gay-marriage position comes down to, for those people who aren’t just homophobic. Well, okay, so most anti-GM folks are homophobic and those that aren’t, explain their POV as if they were either homophobic, or confused about the roles of religion and state. But I think this is the “real” reason why people resist the idea of state-administered gay marriage.

Personally, I think it comes down to pure sex discrimination. I agree with you; think a person’s right to be recognized as a family member of someone they share a household with, shouldn’t depend on sex. As long as society approves of 2-adult households and encourages them economically in law, then it should approve them the same regardless of who the adults are. As a society striving to be egalitarian, we have a standard of fairness to uphold. Besides, there is no reason whatsoever to believe that gay people who adopt and raise kids, are somehow a bad influence on society.

Although i believe in the moral superiority of homosexual love to heterosexual, i am against gay marriage because it sets marriage up as a desirable standard, thereby implying that the more enlightened possibilities available to a sexuality which has never had the institution of marriage. Rather than legalising gay marriage, heterosexual marriage should be abolished as a legal institution, as it is nothing more than legally sanctioned rape and slavery of women by men.
