I guess you can get it at any age but mid 20's seems awfully young.
I suspect it's more of a urinary track infection (a cold in the bladder can also cause a person to constantly think he has to pee as well as a kidney stone, but the latter would have a sharp pain in the lower back near the sides).
Believe it or not, Cranberry juice and vitamines are a good source for preventing prostate

He could be having complications from an undiagnosed STD.

Highly unlikely that it is cancer. It is time to see a Urologist

Yes, but at that age it is more likely a urinary tract infection. And don't get too insulting with the use of the term "hypochondriac". Even a hypochondriac occasionally gets a real illness.

YES it is and only a Dr can say for sure
But you need to up your fluids to make sure you pee lots.. most of the prostate problems could be resolved if men drank more water and peed more
You may need a prostate scrape and it hurts like hell but isn't dangerous and it is from a calcification that is built up and they scrape it out of your BUSINESS DISTRICT... drinking more water flushes this out but if it is packed in their only a scraping can help... go and see the Dr before it does cause a problem..who knows it could be something else

I had that, I'm not sure if it was an infection or temporary problem but they never found anything wrong with me. It's still somewhat tender now though.

My advice is cut down on j/o :$ AND drink lots of water. But go see a doctor ASAP.

Also, you have my sympathy if he recommends a cystoscopy :x

Yes, younger men can suffer from prostatitis, an inflamation of the prostate. It can be very symptomatic as you describe. But he could also be suffering from something else like a urinary tract infection or kidney stone. It is best to check with a primary physician or urologist. Good health.
